Los Angeles Couple’s Luxury Home Fragrance Line Inspires Global Travel
TERMINAL B embodies the spirit of exploration.
In July 2021, Chris and Fay Breedlove launched TERMINAL B, a luxury lifestyle brand that creates fragrances inspired by global destinations. With a nod to their last name, TERMINAL B curates beautiful scents and pays homage to the Tom Bradley International Terminal at Los Angeles Airport, allowing you to feel as if you’ve been transported anywhere from Bali to Cape Town.
After meeting at Howard University School of Law, Chris and Fay established a legal recruitment business with a focus on diversity, equity, and inclusion. Both passionate about travel, their work granted them the freedom to work remotely and explore cities such as Paris and Tokyo for extended periods. Unfortunately, the pandemic brought the couple’s adventures to an unexpected standstill, but little did they know that this unforeseen pause would eventually become the driving force and creative muse behind TERMINAL B. The Breedloves embraced the challenge of staying at home in Los Angeles during the shelter-in-place orders as an opportunity to recreate their exciting travel adventures.
“We really missed the feeling of travel, staying at beautiful hotels, and having experiences that are so unique to different locations,” said Fay. To combat the longing for travel, they started creating theme nights in their home that included cuisine and drinks inspired by countries from their travels such as Singapore and Japan. Utilizing her passion and talent for identifying scents, Fay also began using different fragrances and essential oils to evoke the feeling of some of the countries from their travels. What followed was the creation of their first candle, Botanical Gardens and White Tea, inspired by Singapore’s Changi airport featuring a 6-acre indoor forest, walking trails, and the world’s tallest indoor waterfall. This marked the inception of TERMINAL B.
Since then, Chris and Fay have been “redefining the world of fragrance through the lens of global travel.” For example, EZE, the airport code for Buenos Aires and Chris’ favorite scent, was inspired by the Recoleta neighborhood there. It is infused with black currant and amber. Another fragrance, DPS, named after Bali’s airport code, is infused with damask rose and oud.
TERMINAL B’s candles are made in their Los Angeles-based warehouse where they have the capability to move through hundreds of units per day. Each carefully crafted and handpoured candle features a 60-hour burn time and a double wick design. While many of their candles are sold during in-person events, they can also be ordered through other channels like their website, hotel partners, and Amazon.

Although building brand awareness in a highly saturated market can be challenging, the self-made couple achieves this by marketing a truly unique concept while maintaining their authenticity. “We really want to create an ethos that is appealing and attractive and brings people into the TERMINAL B space as opposed to mass marketing because we know our products are very niche,” said Fay.
Seven years of marriage and several successful years in business have taught Chris and Fay the importance of balancing love and work. Although they are best friends and enjoy each other’s company, they make a conscious effort to separate their roles as spouses and business partners. Fay appreciates Chris’ thoughtful gestures such as surprise dinners, staycations, and weekend getaways. “I’m very blessed to have a partner who is hyper-aware of that,” she said.
Now in its third year, TERMINAL B continues to grow organically, and the couple couldn’t be happier doing it together. “It’s not without challenges, but I wouldn’t want anything else,” said Fay.
